Quote from: Dave on 20 Mar, 2026 16:10Well,"It's Friday But Sundays a'coming" said the preacher as told by the late Tony Campolo.I still have that message on a cassette tape AND an original tape player but like many of us, time has not been kind to the quality.John 4-24 says's "God is spirit (the source of life, yet invisible to mankind) and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth" Amp version. This verse comes after to me, probably one of the most amazing encounters in scripture, a woman in the everyday tedium of her life going to collect water at it's source, encounters a weary traveller sitting on the well and you know the rest of the story, this no name woman who has seemingly stumbled from one bad relationship to another, and finds an unknown to her Jesus, He recognizes her thirst for acceptance. The hidden cry of many peoples heart today acceptance. There you go Mike a bit of Friday waffle for you.Kerry, as God is spirit, I think the Adamic man created in his image and likeness was just that, what that entailed I know not but he was not spirit 'like' God, His maleness was spirit, his soul was his untested fleshy/ female part. As God is light so was Adam until the female switched his light off, and as men love darkness more than light , we all live by choices. As stated , 'my' symplistic rendition.I tend to think man did not have "physical bodies" like us. I think they had spiritual bodies like Jesus had after the Resurrection. However when they sinned, the Light in their bodies went dark. They were naked, so to speak, so God clothed them in skin -- not skins as many suppose. If animals had been killed to clothe them, it would read "skins" but it reads "skin." Many translations say "skins" but it's singular in the Hebrew. Why were they formed out of the "dust"? Same reason that Jesus' original body had to be formed of it. The difference was that the dust used to make Adam and Eve was not "dead" matter. Jesus took the fallen dead dust and raised it again.
